The success of Matoke Tours can be attributed to our hard work and enthusiasm, a passion for Uganda and a youthful and spirited approach to tourism. Above all, we all love what they do! Why the name Matoke Tours?
Matoke is the national and traditional food of Uganda. It is a staple in Uganda and served with every meal in almost every home. It is a green banana and grows in bunches on a tree. However, unlike the usual bananas, matoke is fairly hard before it is cooked and is not sweet at all.
If you were to visit one of the villages in this beautiful country, you would be invited to have a meal in someone's home or hut. Some Ugandans do not have much, but your gracious host would insist on serving you a meal. No matter how elaborate, you would be given the very best they had, and your meal would certainly include matoke.
Our name and our logo creates a smile on the face of Ugandans. Wherever we pass you here people laughing and shouting: "Where is my Matoke"! By showing you Uganda we can't miss out in showing you matoke. We are sure you will taste it sometime during your trip. Enjoy it. Matoke Tours is for us a name to be proud of!
