Isalo National Park

One of the highlights of your trip is definitely Isalo National Park. This park is one of the oldest parks in Madagascar and consists of sedimentation formed in millions of years. Due to tectonic friction, this sandstone mountain has been pushed upwards and created a beautiful plateau full of natural pools, waterfalls, green oases, grassland and a pallet of colors. It is not called "The Colorado of Madagascar" for nothing. At sunset the colors of the massif are changed into a breathtaking array of warm tones.

Walk Isalo National Park

You start your day in Isalo with a short drive to the entrance of the park, here your guide will hold a short briefing before you start. The walk goes right through the gorge and you will be amazed by the scenery and many special animals. After about 3 hours of walking you arrive at a picnic spot where a nice lunch is waiting for you. Protect your lunch from the naughty family of brown lemurs who often hang around for the BBQ as well. After lunch you continue to the "Canyon de Maki". This walk takes you through a beautiful gorge full of tropical plants and takes you to the waterfall and 2 natural pools. The entire walk takes about six to seven hours. Accompanied by the interesting stories from your guide and a dive in a natural swimming pool this day will become a very memorable one. It is also possible to only do a part of this depending on your personal preferences.
